Data Charge is a service for purchasing top-up data quantities in real time.

Overview
Even if you use the entire monthly data amount of your contracted data flat rate service/rate plan in the middle of a month, you can use data communication without speed restrictions by charging (purchasing) additional data.
You can also make a reservation to automatically charge your data before your monthly data amount runs out.

The additional data quantity is valid for 62 days from the day of recharge so there is no waste.
If you have both monthly data quantity and purchased data quantity, the monthly data quantity is used first.
Data quantities can be added in units of 0.5GB and 1GB using Data Charge
Select the additional data quantity from 0.5GB or 1GB and add quantities according to your needs.
Choose "Immediate" or "Reservation" for the charge timing
Set the charge timing and number of charges to match your usage conditions.

(*) Depending on your contract status, you can choose (1) or (2) for the charge timing.

- * The names of rate plans and data (packet) flat rate services for 4G LTE (au VoLTE) AndroidTM smartphones have "(V)".
Communication amount notification
When you run out of data quantity, a notification email will be sent to the email address registered to your au ID.
Inquiries
- * If you complete the application procedure to commence the Data Charge service between 8:00 AM and 9:00 PM, you can use the service immediately. If you apply at any other time, you can use the Data Charge service from 8:00 AM the next day. If you complete the procedures for a new contract, model change or additional terminal on the same day, you can use the Data Charge service from 8:00 AM the next day regardless of the time the application procedure is completed.
- * An au ID is required to use the Data Charge service.

Note
- * Safety Access Service / Restriction on Web Use are not available. Customers using these services must terminate the service (at au Shops). Use Security Filter for au.
Security Filter for au (in Japanese only) - * Cannot be used in combination with the Extra Option.
Extra Option - * Any remaining Data Charge quantity will become unusable if you terminate or suspend the service or plan, or change to another ineligible service or plan.
[Restrictions of communication speed]
- * If the total amount of communications of the month exceeds the monthly data quantity, the maximum communications speed for sending and receiving until the end of that month will be 128kbps. (The communication speed restrictions will be removed on the first day of the following month.) Data quantities purchased with Data Charge can be used without any communications speed constraint.
- * To avoid network congestion, a limit may be placed on the communication speed for a whole day if the total amount of communication used exceeds 6GB over the three most recent days (not including the day on which the restriction is applied). The restricted speed will differ depending on data traffic conditions.
(The restriction applies regardless of the remaining data amount.) - * Regardless of whether you are subscribed to a data (packet) flat-rate service, your line may be temporarily suspended if the cost of the packet communications you use becomes high.
- * This is a best-effort service. The stated speed is the maximum value based on technical standards and does not indicate actual speed. The actual speed may fall substantially short of the maximum for various reasons including your use environment and the traffic conditions, even within service areas.
