Tablet Plan ds(2-year contract)/(2-year contract/L)

This is a plan with a monthly data amount of 0GB that you can use for a 4G LTE tablet when used in combination with a smartphone. The contract is automatically renewed in two-year units. If you cancel or suspend your contract or change rate plans on a month other than a renewal month, a contract cancellation fee (¥9,500) is incurred.

* If using domestic SMS (C-mail), a transmission charge of ¥3/mail (receiving is free) is incurred.


If you apply for a Flat-rate Data Service /rate plan eligible for a 4G LTE smartphone/4G LTE mobile phone, you can share the data amount with the tablet.

About the contract period

About the contract period
  • The initial contract term is two years (the period from the subscription date to the following month is counted as the first month).
  • The contract will be renewed automatically, unless a customer requests termination.
  • If you cancel or suspend your contract or change rate plans outside the renewal period, a contract cancellation fee of ¥9,500 is incurred. In the case of 2 year contract, however, when changing plan to "Tablet Plan ds(3-year contract)/(3-year contract/L)" or "subscription of 2-year contract (Everybody Discount Single) on any other plans", contract cancellation fee is not incurred.
  • The renewal period has been extended to 2 months starting from customers who are reaching their renewal month in May 2016.

<Other notes>

If you cancel the 4G LTE smartphone/4G LTE mobile phone that is used in combination with the tablet, or change to a Flat-rate Data Service that is not eligible, you cannot continue to use Tablet Plan ds (2-year contract)/(2-year contract/L). Switching a plan for the tablet is required. A contract cancellation fee is incurred.


Data option

Data Share

This is a service that allows you to share the monthly data amount for your 4G LTE smartphone/4G LTE mobile phone with your tablet.
Settings are required before using Data Share.

Data Charge

This service allows you to purchase data quantities in real time. If you purchase data quantities with Data Charge, no communications speed constraint is applied even if the total of the monthly data quantity you use exceeds 2GB.

Tethering Option

This option allows you to use your tablet or smartphone as a Wi-Fi router. Additional 500MB is added to the communications amount of 7GB that can be used without communications speed constraints.
(The additional data quantity of 500MB is not added during the free period of the option charge.)

Universal service system

In accordance with the launch of the "Universal Service System", KDDI has begun imposing a "Universal Service Fee" on customers who signed contracts with us for their portion of usage since January, 2007.

[Application of Discount]

  • Charges are prorated from the day of subscription. Charges are prorated in cases where you cancel a contract before the end of a month.

[Restrictions of communication speed]

  • If the total amount of communications of the month exceeds the data quantity for that month, the maximum communications speed for sending and receiving until the end of that month will be 128 kbps. (The communications speed constraint will be removed on the first day of the following month.) If you apply for the Extra Option, the communications speed constraint does not apply. Data quantities purchased with Data Charge can be used without any communications speed constraint.
  • To avoid network congestion, a limit may be placed on the communication speed for a whole day if the total amount of communication used exceeds 6GB over the three most recent days (not including the day on which the restriction is applied). The restricted speed will differ depending on data traffic conditions.
    (The restriction applies regardless of the remaining data amount.)
  • Regardless of whether you are subscribed to a Flat-rate Data service, your line may be temporarily suspended if the cost of the packet communications you use becomes high.

<When using Data Charge>

  • When the total remaining monthly data quantity and purchased data quantity within the month comes to 5%, 1% or lower, you will receive a notification. It is sent to the email address registered with au ID.

[Optimization of communication]

  • LTE NET series packet communications may perform system optimization to improve the display speed of images and the waiting time before video playback begins.
