Extra Option

The Extra Option service allows you to use data communications without any communication speed constraint even if you exceed the data quantity for that month.

  • * Data Charge is provided for purchasing data quantity in real time. (This service cannot be used in combination with the Extra Option.)

Even if you exceed the monthly data quantity, no communication speed constraint is applied.

  • [1] You can choose to apply the Extra Option starting from the month following the month of your application. If you apply in the current month to subscribe starting from the middle of the month, you can use the option from the day following the subscription without any speed constraint. However, usage fees are calculated for the total amount of communication, including the amount before subscribing to the option.
  • [2] Extra Option usage fees are determined by the data (packet) flat-rate service to which you are subscribed as of the end of the month.
  • [3] Since the fee is automatically added, charges may be high depending on the amount of communications that you use within the month. Note that if you terminate the Extra Option or change to another option, it will take effect from the month following the month of application.
  • *Automatic charge of ¥2,500 for every 2GB after exceeding the monthly data amount is also available for contracts for LTE Flat (excluding those with (V)).
  • *For WiMAX 2+ routers released from autumn 2017, plan names have "(L)".

Communication amount notification

When subscribed to the Extra Option, after the data amount exceeds the monthly data amount offered by a rate plan/Flat-rate Data Service, you are notified with SMS (C-mail) the day after every time usage fees are automatically added.If you are using a data communication device or tablet and cannot receive SMS (C-mail), or you want to switch to notifications to emails, apply from au Customer Support.

Note

  • * If terminating the Extra Option, the option is applied until the end of the current month. However, if you subscribe to Data Charge during the month of termination, application is terminated at the point of subscription, including the purchase amount of the Extra Option. To cancel the communication speed restriction, a Data Charge purchase is required.
  • * If subscribed to an eligible data flat rate service other than the above, new applications for this option are no longer accepted as of August 31, 2016. (Excludes corporate customers). Customers subscribed to a services other than an eligible data flat rate service and who used this option cannot re-subscribe to this option if they terminate this option after September 1, 2016.

[Restrictions of communication speed]

  • * If the total amount of communications of the month exceeds the monthly data quantity, the maximum communications speed for sending and receiving until the end of that month will be 128kbps. (The communication speed restrictions will be removed on the first day of the following month.) Data quantities purchased with Extra Option can be used without any communications speed constraint.
  • * To avoid network congestion, a limit may be placed on the communication speed for a whole day depending on your usage conditions. The restricted speed will differ depending on data traffic conditions.
    (The restriction still applies for data amounts purchased with Data Charge or if you apply for the Extra Option.)
  • * Your line may be temporarily suspended if the cost of the packet communications you use becomes high.

[Optimization of communication]

LTE NET series packet communications may perform system optimization to improve the display speed of images and the waiting time before video playback begins.

  • * HTTPS communications and files with email attachments are not optimized.
  • * Customers who do not need communication optimization can contact the Customer Center (157) to have optimization cancelled.
  • * Optimization is the compression and conversion of images to the appropriate size for a smartphone screen. Compressed and converted data cannot be restored.
