Overview

Even if you use the entire monthly data amount of your contracted data flat rate service/rate plan in the middle of a month, you can use data communication without speed restrictions by charging (purchasing) additional data.
You can also make a reservation to automatically charge your data before your monthly data amount runs out.

Point1The additional data quantity is valid for 62 days from the day of recharge so there is no waste.

If you have both monthly data quantity and purchased data quantity, the monthly data quantity is used first.

Validity period

Point2Data quantities can be added in units of 0.5GB and 1GB using Data Charge

Select the additional data quantity from 0.5GB or 1GB and add quantities according to your needs.

Point3Choose "Immediate" or "Reservation" for the charge timing

Set the charge timing and number of charges to match your usage conditions.

When you run out of data quantity, a notification email will be sent to the email address registered to your au ID.

  • * If you complete the application procedure to commence the Data Charge service between 8:00 AM and 9:00 PM, you can use the service immediately. If you apply at any other time, you can use the Data Charge service from 8:00 AM the next day. If you complete the procedures for a new contract, model change or additional terminal on the same day, you can use the Data Charge service from 8:00 AM the next day regardless of the time the application procedure is completed.
  • * An au ID is required to use the Data Charge service.

  • * Cannot be used in combination with the Extra Option.

  • * Any remaining Data Charge quantity will become unusable if you terminate or suspend the service or plan, or change to another ineligible service or plan.

[Restrictions of communication speed]

  • * If the total amount of communications of the month exceeds the monthly data quantity, the maximum communications speed for sending and receiving until the end of that month will be 128kbps. (The communication speed restrictions will be removed on the first day of the following month.) Data quantities purchased with Data Charge can be used without any communications speed constraint.
  • * To avoid network congestion, a limit may be placed on the communication speed for a whole day if the total amount of communication used exceeds 6GB over the three most recent days (not including the day on which the restriction is applied). The restricted speed will differ depending on data traffic conditions.
    (The restriction applies regardless of the remaining data amount.)
  • * Regardless of whether you are subscribed to a data (packet) flat-rate service, your line may be temporarily suspended if the cost of the packet communications you use becomes high.

[Optimization of communication]

LTE NET series packet communications may perform system optimization to improve the display speed of images and the waiting time before video playback begins.

  • * HTTPS communications and files with email attachments are not optimized.
  • * Customers who do not need communication optimization can contact the Customer Center (157) to have optimization cancelled.
  • * Optimization is the compression and conversion of images to the appropriate size for a smartphone screen. Compressed and converted data cannot be restored.
  • * This is a best-effort service. The stated speed is the maximum value based on technical standards and does not indicate actual speed. The actual speed may fall substantially short of the maximum for various reasons including your use environment and the traffic conditions, even within service areas.
