【au Email Portability】How to Apply for au Email Portability and Set Up the Email App (iPhone/iPad)

STEP1: Application for the service

【au Email Portability】I would like to know how to apply

You can apply via the au Email Portability webpage.

Please check the following for the application procedure.

Important notes

  • When you apply for the au Email Portability service, all spam email filter settings will be reset. Please set it again after completing your application.
  • Applications must be submitted within 31 days from the day after the cancellation date of your au contract. (After canceling your au contract, emails sent before completing your application for this service will not be received by the server. Email sending and receiving will resume after completing your application for this service.)
  • You cannot use the email address change feature that was provided at the time of your au contract. Some other functions that were provided under the au contract are also unavailable.

Steps

  • 1

    Access the au Email Portability page on the device you will be using for this feature.

    • Please access it using the Safari browser.
  • 2

    Tap on "New Application" [新規お申し込み].

  • 3

    Enter the au ID you used for the email address, then tap on "Next" [次へ].

    If this screen does not appear, proceed to step 5.

    • If you are connected to Wi-Fi when logging in with your au ID, you may need to complete the two-step verification process.

    Enter your password and tap on "Log In" [ログイン].

  • 5

    Enter the email address you want to set for your au ID and tap on "Change au ID (Agree and Send Confirmation Code)" [au IDを変更する (同意し確認コードを送信)].

    • Please set an email address other than au email (@au.com / @ezweb.ne.jp).

    Enter the Verification Code received from auto@connect.auone.jp and tap on "Next" [次へ].

  • 7

    Tap on "Change au ID and Proceed" [au IDを変更して次へ] .

  • 8

    If this screen appears, tap on "Agree" [同意する].

  • 9

    If this screen appears, select the email address you want to apply for au Email Portability and tap on "Proceed" [次へ進む].

    If this screen does not appear, proceed to step 10.

  • 10

    Review the Terms and Conditions and check "I agree to the Terms and Conditions" [利用規約に同意する].

  • 11

    Tap on "Apply for au Email Portability" [auメール持ち運びに申し込む].

    Next, set up your payment with au PAY (au Easy Payment). Please proceed with the items that match your situation in STEP2.

STEP2: Setting up au PAY (au Easy Payment) (currently using UQ mobile or povo 2.0)

【au Email Portability】I would like to pay the service fee using au PAY (au Easy Payment) (currently using UQ mobile or povo 2.0)

After applying for au Email Portability, you can use the verification code received via text message (SMS) to set up the payment with au PAY (au Easy Payment).

    Tap on "Agree" [同意する].

    • This screen will only appear when you use it for the first time.

    Tap on the received text message [SMS] to open it.

  • 3

    Check the verification code and return to the Service Usage Confirmation page.

  • 4

    Enter the verification code you received and tap on "Register" [登録する].

    The application for au Email Portability is now complete.

    Then, please proceed to STEP 3.

For your reference

  • If you use UQ mobile/povo2.0, you can choose to pay combined with your monthly bill, or by credit card, or by au PAY Card.

STEP2: Setting up au PAY (au Easy Payment) (currently using another carrier)

To set up au PAY (au Easy Payment), please register your customer information after following the application steps for the au Email Portability service.

For details, please refer to the information below.

Steps

    Tap on "Agree" [同意する].

    • This screen will only appear when you use it for the first time.
  • 2

    Enter your customer information and tap on "Set" [設定する].

    • Please register an email address that is not an au email (@au.com / @ezweb.ne.jp) as your contact email address.
  • 3

    Tap on "Set" [設定する].

  • 4

    Enter the verification code you received and tap on "Set" [設定する].

  • 5

    Tap on "Next" [次へ].

    • If the two-step verification setup screen appears, tap on "Set up two-step verification" [2段階認証を設定する] → tap on "Set" [設定] → tap on "OK".
  • 6

    Enter your credit card number and the security code, and tap on "Register" [登録する].

    The application for au Email Portability is now complete.

    Then, please proceed to STEP 3.

STEP2: Setting up au PAY (au Easy Payment) (without a phone line contract)

To set up au PAY (au Easy Payment), please register your customer information after following the application steps for the au Email Portability service.

For details, please refer to the information below.

    Tap on "Agree" [同意する].

    • This screen will only appear when you use it for the first time.
  • 2

    Enter your customer information, and tap on "Set" [設定する].

    • Please register an email address that is not an au email (@au.com / @ezweb.ne.jp) as your contact email address.

    Tap on "Set" [設定する]

  • 4

    Enter the verification code you received and tap on "Set" [設定する].

  • 5

    Tap on "Next" [次へ] .

    • If you proceed to the two-step verification settings screen, tap on "Set up two-step verification" [2段階認証を設定する] → tap on "Set" [設定]→ tap on"OK".

    Enter your credit card number and the security code, and tap on "Register" [登録する].

    The application for au Email Portability is now complete.

    Then, please proceed to STEP 3.

STEP3: How to set up the iPhone Mail app

You can set it up by installing a profile.

For details, please refer to the information below.

Important note

  • Please use Safari as your browser. If you use other browsers, it may not be possible to install the profile.

Steps

  • 1

    The application for au Email Portability was completed up to STEP 2.

    Next, proceed with the Email App setup. Tap on "iPhone Mail app" [iPhone 標準メールアプリ].

    If you need to reconfigure the iPhone standard Mail app, log in to the au Email Portability My Page, tap on "Email App Settings" [メールアプリの設定], and then tap on "iPhone Mail app" [iPhone 標準メールアプリ].

    Tap on "Download Profile" [プロファイルをダウンロードする].

  • 3

    Tap on "Allow" [許可].

  • 4

    Tap on "Close" [閉じる].

  • 5

    Instructions for email settings (steps 1 to 3) will be displayed.

    Return to the home screen.

    Tap on "Settings" [設定アプリ].

  • 7

    Tap on "Downloaded Profile" [ダウンロード済みのプロファイル].

    • It may also display iPhone setup suggestions or iPhone setup complete.
    • If it is not displayed, tap on "Settings" [設定]"General" [一般] "VPN and Device Management" [VPNとデバイス管理]"Downloaded Profiles" [ダウンロード済みプロファイル].

    Tap on "Install" [インストール].

  • 9

    If you have set a passcode, enter it.

    • This screen is displayed if you have set a 6-digit numeric passcode.
    • If you have not set a passcode, proceed to step 10.

    Tap on "Install" [インストール].

  • 11

    Tap on "Install" [インストール].

  • 12

    Tap on "Complete" [完了].

    The settings are now completed.

STEP4: How to manually set up emails (only when setting up multiple email addresses)

【au Email Portability】How to set up multiple email addresses

If you want to set up two or more email addresses after applying for au Email Portability, you will need to set them up manually.

Please refer to the following for the setup instructions.

Important note

  • When downloading the profile from the au Email Portability My Page while setting up an email address, the initially registered settings will be overwritten. Please set up two or more email addresses manually.

Steps

    On the au Email portability application completion screen, tap on "Check the ID and password required for email settings" [メール設定に必要なID・パスワードを確認する].

    Or, after logging in to the My Page of  au Email portability, tap on "Email App Settings" [メールアプリの設定] and then tap on "Check the ID and password required for email settings" [メール設定に必要な ID・パスワードを確認する].

    Take note of the information needed for manual setup of Email Settings Information and return to the home screen.

    • Required information: User name, Password, IMAP server, SMTP server.

    Tap on "Settings" [設定].

  • 4

    Tap on "Mail" [メール].

  • 5

    Tap on "Account" [アカウント]

  • 6

    Tap on "Add Account" [アカウントを追加].

  • 7

    Tap on "Others" [その他].

  • 8

    Enter your name (any name), the email address you want to register, and the password noted in step 2. 

    • Enter a description if necessary (optional).

    Select "IMAP" and enter the items you noted in step 2.

    1. IMAP Server
    2. Username
    3. Password
    4. SMTP Server
    • The username and password are the same for both the incoming and the outgoing mail servers.
  • 10

    Tap on "Save" [保存].

  • 11

    The setup is now completed.

  • 12

    Please confirm that two mailboxes are receiving emails in the email app.

  • All of the indicated amounts exclude tax unless otherwise specified.
