【au ID】How to register a new au ID and password (Android)

You can register a new au ID and password using the My au app.

Important notes

  • Please turn off the Wi-Fi function before proceeding with these steps.
  • These steps are intended for Android devices.
  • In the initial setup, your au mobile phone number will be set as your au ID.
  • This page uses images from My au app to explain, but the same operations can be performed on the My UQ mobile app.

Steps

  • 1

    Launch the [My au app].

  • 2

    Tap on "Log in with au ID" [au IDでログインする].

  • 3

    Tap on "Allow" [許可].

  • 4

    Tap on "Register a new au ID" [au IDを新規登録する].

  • 5

    Enter your mobile phone number and tap on "Next" [次へ].

  • 6

    Enter the 4-digit PIN you set during your contract and tap on "Next" [次へ].

  • 7

    Enter your desired password and tap on "Agree and Set" [同意して設定する].

    • For UQ mobile customers, the email registration screen will be displayed next, so please follow the instructions on the screen to complete the registration.
  • 8

    Tap on "Next" [次へ].

    If this screen does not appear, proceed to step 11.

    • If the screen does not progress, it is possible that biometric authentication (fingerprint or face recognition) has not been set up. By registering biometric authentication (fingerprint or facial recognition) or setting up screen locks such as number or pattern authentication, you will be able to proceed to the next screen.

    Perform biometric authentication.

    Tap on "Next" [次へ].

  • 11

    Tap on "Return to the Services in Use" [利用中のサービスに戻る].

  • 12

    Check the Terms and Conditions and other consent matters, then tap on "Agree" [同意する].

  • 13

    Tap on either "Allow Only While Using the App" [アプリの使用時のみ], "Only this Time" [今回のみ], or "Do Not Allow" [許可しない] in the Location Permission dialog.

    • Regardless of which option you choose on this screen, you will be required to select and confirm again on the following screens.
    • If this screen does not appear, proceed to the next step.

    Tap on [OK].

    • If this screen does not appear, proceed to the next step.
  • 15

    Tap on "Always Allow" [常に許可].

    • If this screen does not appear, proceed to the next step.
  • 16

    Tap on "←".

    • If this screen does not appear, proceed to the next step.
  • 17

    Tap on "Get Started" [はじめる].

  • 18

    A tutorial (animation) on how to use the app will be displayed, followed by the My au app’s home screen.

    Your au ID registration is now complete.

For your reference

  • The au ID password can be 8 to 32 characters long using half-width alphanumeric characters and symbols.

    If you use a date format (such as consecutive numbers) or repeat the same number, an error will occur.

    Allowed characters: a to z, A to Z

    Allowed numbers: 0 to 9

    Allowed symbols: ~, `, !, @, #, $, %, ^, &, *, (, ), -, _, +, =

    • On some devices, the symbols "&" and "=" cannot be used in the password.
    • It is mandatory to use both half-width letters and numbers.
    • The use of symbols is not mandatory but using them along with alphanumeric characters increases the strength of the password.

iPhone / iPad

    Tap on "Allow" [許可].

    Tap on "Log in with au ID" [au IDでログインする].

    Tap on "Register a new au ID" [au IDを新規登録する].

    Enter your mobile phone number and tap on "Next" [次へ].

    Enter the 4-digit PIN you set during your contract and tap on "Next" [次へ].
